Porcelain Pin Insulator Description
A Porcelain Pin Insulator, also known as a pin-type power porcelain vase or pin insulator, is a component used to support or suspend a conductor and to form electrical insulation between the tower and the conductor.
Porcelain Pin Insulator Composition
The body of a pin insulator is usually made of porcelain with a layer of glaze to enhance insulating properties. Its structure is relatively simple but powerful, mainly including porcelain vase, needle seat and wire and other parts. The vase acts as the insulating body, and is tightly connected to the conductor through the pin holder, forming an electrical connection while ensuring electrical isolation between the conductor and the tower.
Porcelain Pin Insulator Feature
Electrical insulation: In high-voltage transmission lines, the conductor and the tower need to maintain a sufficient electrical distance between them to prevent the leakage of current to the tower resulting in short-circuit or electric shock accidents. Porcelain Pin Insulator with its excellent insulating properties, effectively isolate the electrical connection between the wire and the tower, to ensure the safety of power transmission.
Support wire: in the wind, temperature changes and other external forces, the wire will produce a certain displacement and vibration. Porcelain Pin Insulator through its strong structure and material characteristics, for the wire to provide a stable support point, to ensure the normal operation of the wire and the stability of power transmission.
Environmental protection: in poor weather conditions, such as lightning, dirt, ice and snow, Porcelain Pin Insulators can effectively resist the erosion of these external factors, to maintain the stability of its insulation properties. Especially in lightning weather, Porcelain Pin Insulators can reduce the impact and damage of lightning on the conductor through its special design and material properties.
Porcelain Pin Insulator Application
Porcelain Pin Insulators are widely used in power systems, not only for supporting and insulating high-voltage transmission lines, but also in substations, power plants and other power facilities. Specifically, they are used to support and insulate high-voltage components on switchgear, such as knife gates, disconnect switches and circuit breakers. In addition, pin insulators are commonly used as part of lightning arrestors to absorb and discharge overvoltages to protect equipment from lightning strikes and overvoltages.
